Sunbonnet Sue & Sam Missouri Released… Plus Corky Cow.. from Seams To Be Sew

I know it seems very surprising that I released two states in one week, but I had that plan last week and then it didn’t work out with having to fix the Missouri Sam block. So I worked the rest of this week to get Missouri finished so I could … Continue reading

Quilt Block Mania Month 1 is here… from Seams To Be Sew

Quilt Block Mania starts today and is the idea of Carolina Moore. She belongs to a design group I’m in on Facebook and thought it would be fun to create a theme each month and then release that block free to our quilting friends. The theme for July is Summer Fun. All blocks are 12-inches,...

Yes, It’s Time…. Sue and Sam In South Carolina Released… from Seams To Be Sew

It seems like I plan to get it released and then end up having to fix a mistake and that’s exactly what happened last week. I realized Sam was a bit shorter than he should be in the block when I went to make the final images and I ended up having to resize him which meant having to redo all the templates, layouts, the SVGs, and the embroidery files. I am truly sorry I had every intention of getting this one released prior to July 4th but I can’t write a pattern in a day it just ...

My 7th Anniversary … Sue-Sam Release… New QAL… from Seams To Be Sew

It’s a busy day here in the Pena household… I’ve been planning to release Sue/Sam in New Jersey for several days, but so many things kept getting in my way. Then today, I was writing an email to someone when I had to give her my blog address and I realized today is my 7th year blog anniversary. I’ve owned this domain for 18 years, but as I’ve noted before in various posts that the first 11 years of this domain were related to being a web developer. The last 7 now as a blog ...

I’m having some Winter Blues….. from Seams To Be Sew

I am definitely blue if there is no snow on the ground during Winter… I love love love snow as some of you know from my postings on my Facebook personal page. I often post pictures when we get snow and we’ve now been weeks without some snow, even a hint of it…. nada… We had such a good start to Winter with 4 or 5 snow storms between October and November but then.. BOOM, they just went away… I’ve never been a fan of the color blue, it does remind me of being down and sad… However ...

Day 12 of 12 Days of Cute Christmas Fun… A little burp… from Seams To Be Sew

Well, somehow I managed to go and lose the pdf files that I’d created for these last patterns. I did these last summer for this event, so thought they were just sitting in the folder waiting to be released… I have no idea what happened to the pdfs, but I can’t release a pattern without a pdf, so, unfortunately, I had to set about re-creating all of the pdfs again. I had the patterns proofed last night by my testers to be sure we caught any mistakes as I’ve never written so many patterns all at once ...

I’ll Be Gnome For Christmas … Day 11 of 12 Days of Cute Christmas Fun… from Seams To Be Sew

I’ve had such a fun time this year releasing a series of gnomes and still have more patterns to go, but for Christmas, I created 9 gnome patterns. At first, this was to be the only release for the gnomes themselves, but then some matching homes came out for the gnomes and I decided to add them last minute to the pattern. I made this decision last week, and my testers have been busy stitching ever since. Houses 2 and 4 are not quite ready yet so they haven’t been released today, but you can get a lovely ...

12 Days of Cute Christmas Fun…. Day 10 from Seams To Be Sew

Woooo, day 10 already … where has the time gone?? Just two more days and we’ll be done. Please remember, no patterns will be posted this weekend. You can download this pattern today tho all weekend long for those of you who can’t get around daily to download them. Today’s patterns are influenced by another memory of my childhood. When I was very young and wondered about the great Santa Claus and how he was going to get into our house because we didn’t have a fireplace, my dad would tell me that the Santa poster on ...

12 Days of Cute Christmas Fun – Day 09 from Seams To Be Sew

I do hope you’re enjoying the patterns. From some of the comments, I’ve received this week I can see that a few of you are. I don’t just read comments here on my blog, but those in Facebook also. I definitely appreciate those of you who take the time to comment. It makes me feel happy that you take the time to say thank you or to just say you like them. With my internet issues this past week I’ve been just crazy about how to get the patterns online, but I also know those of ...

Sadly, I’ve been without internet most of yesterday, and most of today. It finally came back on about an hour ago and I got to finishing up the uploading of the patterns. I was writing this post yesterday when it went down and stayed down. Apparently the troubles with the neighbor’s cable were not done with, they had to come and fix something in the ground.. Tore up the road and everything yesterday. So I’m writing this post really fast on a Saturday to get it out to you. I do have a doctor’s appointment first ...

On The Naughty List – 12 Days of Cute Christmas Fun Day 04… from Seams To Be Sew

Hard to believe we are now on day 04 of 12 Days. It always just goes by so quickly when I hold this event each year and it just seems to get more and more frantic. I know I am a bit late posting today, but I slept until just after noon today with having to get all the stuff done I normally do in a day on the internet done last night, so having to get everything ready to get this posted took me a few hours. Today’s post is all about those memories I have of getting ...

12 Days of Cute Christmas Fun … Day 03 from Seams To Be Sew

I am so so sorry… my internet has been down long before I even got up this morning to write the post and get the patterns uploaded. I have no idea what time it went down, but the cable guy was outside of the neighbor’s house all day I gather trying to get it fixed. I finally have internet again, so I am getting these up very quickly now. Today’s pattern is a lovely hot cup of cocoa with a cinnamon stick. Who doesn’t love hot cocoa in the wintertime let alone at Christmas? Please note, because ...

12 Days of Christmas Day 02 … Frosty’s Friends… from Seams To Be Sew

Hi Everyone, I’m so happy you liked the Unicorn pattern yesterday. I liked the whole series and it was really difficult to decide which of the patterns to offer as a free pattern, but I went with the Unicorn because I’ve never created a unicorn pattern before and thought you might like the change, thus the reason. prior to that, it was going to be the doggy, but at the last moment, I went with the unicorn. To those of you who took the time to comment, THANK YOU!!! Hearing your thoughts and such is so nice. Please ...

Sunbonnet Sue and Sam In Florida Released… from Seams To Be Sew

I was hoping to get this posted yesterday, but I forgot that it was my day at the doctor’s. Sometimes it’s just in and out and other times it’s half the day. Yesterday was one of those half the day kind of things. I’d had an infection in both my feet for the last few weeks, so she couldn’t do her normal thing four weeks ago when I was last in, Two weeks ago it was canceled due to a snowstorm in the area. My doctor drives in from Denver to treat people on Wednesdays ...

I feel like a dork!!! Nifty Novelties Day 02, my project… from Seams To Be Sew

I am so dumb, last night I finished my post, and went to bed… leaving it on “draft” .. not published, but thinking I had published it for this morning. So here I am, all my dorkiness in tow… I’ve made for this hop a simple project, nothing big or fancy, but something I haven’t done before. I absolutely love novelty prints tho.  Next to blenders they are my favorite print to work with. Even tho I don’t do it that often. Normally when I work with novelty prints, I either fussy cut the area I want or ...

I Was Suppose To Be Yesterday… On The Witchy Stitchy Blog Hop… from Seams To Be Sew

It’s not even an oops, I forgot… I blundered and put the wrong bags on the living room couch for my hubby to take to work. I have to tell you the whole story for you to understand why I goofed up so badly. You see, when we lived in Italy, and I learned about the row by row experience, I was lucky enough to have several people send me some row patterns back in 2015. By that time, I was teaching Sarah how to sew, and had created a group of moms who also lived on and around ...
